5:1 And the Philistines took God’s ark and brought it from Eben-ezer to Ashdod 2 And the Philistines took God’s ark and brought it to the house of Dagon and set it up by Dagon. 3 And the Ashdodites got up early on the following day, and here was Dagon falling forward to the ground in front of YHWH’s ark! And they took Dagon and put him back in his place 4. And they got up early in the morning on the following day, and here was Dagon falling forward to the ground in front of YHWH’s ark, and Dagon’s head and his two hands were cut off, at the threshold Only Dagon’s torso was left to him 5 On account of this, the priests of Dagon and all who come to the house of Dagon do not step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day
6 And YHWH’s hand was heavy toward the Ashdodites, and He devastated them and struck them, Ashdod and its borders, with hemorrhoids 7 And the people of Ashdod saw how it was, and they said, “The ark of the God of Israel will not sit among us, because His hand is hard on us and on Dagon, our god” 8 And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them and said, “What shall we do to the ark of the God of Israel?”
And they said, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be moved to Gath” And they moved the ark of the God of Israel 9 And it was after they moved it, and YHWH’s hand was against the city—a very big terror—and He struck the people of the city, from young to old, and hemorrhoids broke out on them
10 And they sent away God’s ark to Ekron And it was as God’s ark came into Ekron, and the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They’ve moved the ark of the God of Israel to me, to kill me and my people!” 11 And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines and said, “Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it go back to its place and not kill me and my people,” because there was a terror of death in the whole city God’s hand was very heavy there 12 And the people who did not die were struck with hemorrhoids, and the city’s cry went up to the skies
6:1 And YHWH’s ark was in the Philistines’ territory seven months 2 And the Philistines called the priests and the diviners, saying, “What shall we do to YHWH’s ark? Inform us: with what shall we send it away to its place?”
3 And they said, “If you’re sending away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it away empty, but pay back a guilt offering to Him Then you’ll be healed, and it will be known to you why His hand doesn’t turn away from you”
4 And they said, “What
